Thin Ice

5 hour exposure; Full Moon reflecting on developing ice crystals
Moab, Utah

When the winter weather (finally!) seemed to relent, I was actually sad to see the ice melt and disappear.  Luckily in March 2008, there were still cold enough nights to form thin ice patterns on some desert pools.  I returned to the same pool in which I photographed "Moontstruck" one year earlier to expose these abstract ice patterns.

Moonstruck is the first image I exposed of the moon reflecting in water.  Part of the "Ethereal Days" series, it remains my favorite Moontrack image.

I use this image as an introduction to the
MOONTRACKS Limited Edition Portfolio.
